Abstract
Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) is known to be safe. However, there have been several case reports demonstrating serious complications such as neurologic deficits. Here, we present a patient with ipsilateral lower extremity muscle weakness following a revision of SCS. Thepatient with complex regional pain syndrome in the left lower extremity underwent the revision of the electrode. One day after the revision, he complained of severe spontaneous pain and allodynia with voiding difficulty and grade III muscle weakness in the affected limb. A CT scan and an MRI scan were performed showing no evidence of complications. Thirty-five days after the revision, he regained self-voiding and showed gradual improvement of pain and increased muscle strength in the affected limb. Fifty-one days after the revision, he was discharged from the hospital ambulating on his own. There were no abnormal findings in the imaging studies, and he recovered from the transient neurologic deficits.
